The Subaru Impreza

The Subaru Impreza has enjoyed the benefit of high profile rallying. This is a high performance hatchback, with huge spoilers and an aggressive exhaust which creates that raw challenging sound that screams “the big boy is here!” Prices range from £13620 - £32290.

The Impreza WRX STi has one engine size; a 2.5-litre fitted with a turbocharger which produces 300bhp, with speedy acceleration that provides 0-62mph in just 5.2 seconds. The traction is particularly sound, even in wet conditions. Its six-speed manual gearbox provides a very tight action, which can sometimes make the driving experience not quite as smooth as other cars of similar ilk. However, what the Impreza lacks in the gentler side of things, it certainly makes up for with its excellent handling. The Impreza can manoeuvre corners with consummate ease, while the suspension allows the vehicle to traverse over all those nasty potholes effortlessly.

The Brilliant Subaru Impreza is fitted with the Si Drive system, which provides the driver with three response settings for maximum driveability – the car can even achieve 330bhp at times, travelling from 0- 60 in just 4.8 seconds. The interior of the Impreza is comfortable, and while the sports bucket seats are quite secure, sometimes a fair amount of rattling can take place while the car is in motion.

While the Subaru Impreza is excellent for cruising, if you are a driver that prefers a sportier mode of transport, then this is unlikely to be the best option for you. It also has a reasonably hefty CO2 emission of 243 g/km, so certainly not the most environmentally conscious car on the market. However, for those that prefer excellent handling and durability, the Imprezza is certainly the right choice.
